Malvern College Pre-School Hong Kong (MCPS) is an international pre-school tailoring for children aged two to five years old. The school offers an Educationally Harnessed Play Programme based on the U.K.’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, engaging children through both structured and free play and emphasising their inquisitive nature through hands-on activities. In adopting a highly personalised approach to teaching, MCPS sets a natural foundation for a child’s immersion into the primary school years, either at Malvern College Hong Kong or any other International Primary School. Following the successful launch of the Coronation Circle campus in West Kowloon in August 2017, the school opened a second campus in Sai Ying Pun (Island West) in August 2019. Both locations provide around 180 pre-nursery and kindergarten places. The campus design is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, making the environment the third teacher. A prominent feature of MCPS’ bi-lingual curriculum is the equal exposure of children to both the English and Chinese culture and language. At MCPS, a child’s learning journey is not confined to the classroom. The pre-school prides itself in being one of Hong Kong’s first to operate a Forest-Beach-School Programme. Level 3 qualified Forest-Beach-School leaders run the outdoor learning programme in all safe weather conditions and ensure that children’s knowledge, know-how and social skills are nurtured for the future. Malvern Playgroup, children learn through play. Play allows children to develop their imagination, dexterity as well as physical, cognitive and emotional skills. Play is paramount for healthy brain development. Children engage and interact with each other and the world around them through play and learn important social and communication skills.
